Entry RequirementsOpen to students who, through their schooling and extra curricular activities, demonstrate the NCG PRIDE values. Students will also be able to display self-management and commitment to complete an individual learning plan. Students are required to go through an interview process in order to be accepted into this programme.
This programme offers “hands on” workplace learning for students while they gain industry and NCEA qualifications. It includes up to one day per week in the workplace where students gain increased knowledge about the industry and workplace expectations. Students can be placed anywhere in the Nelson Tasman region that has the ability to take on one or more work experience students.
Term 1
Students will complete a Workplace First Aid and Workplace Health and Safety Certificate in preparation for their work experience placement. Students will also complete a Career Pathway Planning unit to identify a career pathway option with links to education, learning and work.
Term 2
Students will start their individual learning plans which focus on industry specific units of work.
Students will also start work experience in the community.
Students will complete a self defense course through the Women's Self Defense Network - Wāhine Toa.
Term 3
Students will continue working on their individual learning plans and their work experience in the community.
Term 4
Students will complete their individual learning plans.
Courses are based on student choice, so some courses may not run.
