Level 2 Physical Education

Course Description

Contact Person: S. D'Arcy.

Classes are made up of approximately 50% classroom theory and 50% practical activities. Modules include: Application of Sports Science Principles – Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Principles and Methods of training; A performances standard assesses in a variety of contexts (recent activities have included Ki-O-Rahi, ultimate Frisbee and badminton); A research based task investigating a sporting event (2024 - based on the Olympics); and a Risk Management module based on a challenging outdoor activity (previous years have included snorkeling, a bike expedition and a sea kayaking trip).

Entry Requirements

Students who have not previously studied Physical Education may be admitted at the discretion of the HOD.

Students who select 12PED may not also select 12SRE as an option. 

Contributions and Equipment

Approximately $100 for the Mountain bike expedition/$200 for Sea Kayaking

Pathway

A diverse range of careers involving physical activity, both being active and supporting others to be active eg Professional Sportsperson, Physio, Recreation Manager, Physical Trainer

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
