Level 1 Numeracy
Course Description
This course is designed to assist students in gaining the 10 Numeracy credits required for gaining their NCEA certificates. Students will continue to develop the ability to understand and use basic number, geometry, and measurement skills at Level 4 and 5 of the Curriculum. In addition to this, the course covers interpreting statistical data and information from tables and graphs that could occur in daily life - at home, at school, and at work. Students will be encouraged to show working steps, use different methods, and develop the ability to use valid reasoning. Students will have the opportunity to gain the required 10 credits for Numeracy by sitting the online Numeracy Common Assessment Activities (CAA) in June and November. (Please Note: this is not an NCEA Level 1 Mathematics course which is level 6 of the Curriculum)).
