11MAT

Level 1 Mathematics

Course Description

This course will continue to develop a broad range of mathematical skills. Students will learn to gather and process data to make valid conclusions, interpret statistical information found in newspapers, social media etc and make sense of it. Students will continue to develop their confidence to apply a range of numbers, measurement, geometry, and algebra skills to real-life problems with clearly communicated answers. Students will spend time working to generalise and reason using algebraic methods. This course includes two externally-assessed and two internally-assessed standards worth 5 credits each.

Note: students in this course can use the credits gained from their assessments to put towards their 10 Numeracy credits OR they have the option to also sit the “Numeracy” online common assessment activity (CAA) in June and November to gain their 10 credits.
