Course Description

Year 13 Drama

This is a course which combines group and solo performance events with theoretical theatre studies. Students will have the opportunity to devise, direct, act and undertake technical roles. It is suitable for strongly self-motivated students. There will be weekend and after school rehearsals for the major production, plus two evening performances. 

The programme of NCEA Standards is selected from the list below to suit the particular class group of students. Each student will have the opportunity to gain 18 credits.


Course Overview

Term 1
Theatre form study based on a selection of feminist political theatre, Elizabethan theatre, Greek drama, absurdist theatre, Aotearoa New Zealand theatre.

Devised drama

Term 4
External examination based on theatre form

A minimum of 12 credits in 12DRA.

All internal assessments are practical tasks which will be presented to peers or an outside audience.
