Level 1 Art and Photography

11ARP
Course Description

Contact Person: A. Heinz

Students will cover elements of Practical Art, Photography and Art History. This 16 credit course covers a range of technical photographic camera tasks which students then put to artistic use throughout the year alongside a study of Art History. Students are expected to research and express their own artistic or cultural interests in finished works. The two Art History assessments require research and written responses.

Students learn how their camera works and the range of technical camera functions to further their interest and ability in Art and Photography. Students need to research and work independently on individual project work and complete out of school photo shoots for homework. Producing original artworks for assessment is a requirement of this course. Written work forms a large internal component.

Students who complete this course can progress in Art but we recommend the 11ART course for students keen to study senior Art courses.
